Why You Should Be Driving for Uber to Pay for Facebook Ads

Starting a digital marketing business is one of the most rewarding things you can do. While running an online business is way cheaper than running a brick and mortar business, it can still cost you a pretty penny. And for most of us, the reason we decided to start an online business in the first place was because we want to make more money.

Many people get to this point in their journey and quit because they lack the funds to grow their business. But as the saying goes:

“If you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

I was able to find a way, and this is definitely the way to go if you want your business to explode so you can quit your shitty job as soon as possible.

And the good news is you don’t have to sell your stuff on eBay.

Today I’m gonna show you why driving for Uber to pay for Facebook ads is the most efficient way to scale your online business.

Your Side Hustle Needs A Side Hustle

It is insane to me that many people quit their jobs to start their own business! Which is why your side hustle needs a side hustle. The ultimate goal is to transform your side hustle into your primary hustle.

Chances are you need money to run a business!

The first option is to get a second job. The problem with getting a second job though is that it’s gonna have the same cons as your current job. Long hours, shitty pay, and not-so great coworkers.

As far as side hustles go, driving for Uber is ideal because there’s a high demand for Uber drivers so they’re always hiring. There’s no need to fill out dozens of job applications just to make a couple extra bucks a month.

How it Works

The wonderful thing about Uber is that as long as you have a clean driving record, are over 21, and can pass a background check, you can start making money with Uber in as little as a week.

Once you’ve been approved and your background check clears, you’re good to go. Remember that you need to have your car documents up to date. After downloading the app, you need to upload a picture of your driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and a selfie so that your riders can recognize you.

You’re also gonna need a phone mount; it’s a definite must before you start driving and part of the terms and conditions.

To start driving, just open the app, and swipe to “Go Online”. Then just drive around until you receive a request for a trip. Pick up your rider, drive them safely to their location, and finish the trip by swiping “Complete Trip” to collect your earnings.

Once you reach 100 trips, Uber allows you to cash out instantly up to 5x a day. Otherwise, you get paid weekly. Getting to cash out daily is a huge plus; especially when you’re trying to fund your Facebook ad campaigns.

The more trips you make and the better service you provide, the more trip requests you receive; and the higher your earnings due to tips.

So keep hustling.

What’s Great About Driving for Uber

The beautiful thing about Uber is that you can Go Online and start making money whenever you want. Have two hours to kill before a date?

Drive Uber for a few hours.

Can’t sleep? Go online for a few hours.

The key is to manage your time properly and remember that this is a side hustle you’re using to fund your online business. Don’t let the fast money get to you.

I also need to stress that just because you work your own hours, it still doesn’t make you an entrepreneur. Fact o

f the matter is, if you’re not driving, you’re not making money.

Kinda like your job… if you don’t clock in, you don’t get paid.

Plus let’s be real. The reason you hate your job is because it drains your energy. Trying to work two jobs can lead to burn outs which slow your progress and that’s something we don’t want.

Driving for Uber is a little less strenuous on your body and a great way to make some fast cash. There’s been days when I make $50 in 2 hours due to length of the trips and tips. I don’t know about you, but making $100 in 5 hours for driving people around sounds a lot more appealing than serving tables at iHop.

If you’re gonna be working for tips, you might as well make it easy on yourself.

There’s also incentives. Surge pricing occurs when there’s a high demand for Uber drivers in a particular are and not enough drivers. Last year, Wrestlemania was held here in Orlando and I made $160 in 2.5 hours driving people to the venue because demand was so high. Referring people to drive will also give you a bonus. And let’s not forget about promotions and Uber Eats.

Putting it All Together

Like I mentioned before, do not get the idea that you can make a full time living driving for Uber. There are days when I earn $30 from one trip; and days where I make less than $10 in three hours.

This is nothing more than a means to an end… the end being Facebook ads.

If you’re serious about growing your online business whether it’s affiliate marketing or eCommerce, paid traffic is the way to go. But because it can get pretty expensive, you need to have a decent amount saved up. This is money that you’re gonna spend and probably not get back, so make sure it doesn’t cut into your budget AKA your rent money!

Driving for Uber is also a great way to meet new people and potential customers… you never know who you’re gonna meet and what they’re into! I’ve met bloggers, social media marketing specialists, and small business owners.

So, if you’ve been telling yourself the reason you can’t expand your business is because you lack funds for your Facebook ads or any other form of paid traffic sources, I call bullshit.

You can easily make $20 today with Uber and use those $20 to set up your first Facebook ad campaign and make a sale tonight.

Anything’s possible as long as you put in the work and keep an eye out for solutions.

  1. Hi Dilbreros; Much said about Uber driving. I read the post throughout and the encouragement along with the detailed discreption of what Uber driving intails, really catch my interest.

In true sense the information that you have given is initself a job discreption.

While on the other hand the invitation to become your own boss is cristal clear.

According to the information here; To be fully qualified to become a Uber driver you must own a realible vehicle?

    1. Not necessarily. If you’d like, you can rent/lease a vehicle through Uber and they deduct the cost of the lease from your earnings. If you’d rather drive your own car, I believe it has to be a 2001 model or newer with 4 doors.

And it’s true… even though you get to make your own hours, it’s still a job where if you don’t put in the hours, you don’t make money.

It’s still a great side hustle though… but it should never become your only hustle.

That’s why running an online business is ideal. Your content can reach hundreds of thousands of people all over the world and that’s the key to building a passive income. You do the work once, and reap in the rewards for a lifetime if you do it correctly.

  2. Awesome post on Uber Dilbreros! Such a simple but effective idea to gain some revenue for your Facebook ads. I have been Affiliate Marketing for a while now and have struggled with coming up with funds for advertising on Facebook and other mediums! Thanks for the tips! I think that you are really are on to something here – well done!

    1. You’re welcome Dan!

When you stop focusing on your problems, you come up with solutions. Driving for Uber was one I discovered allowed me to pay for my paid traffic. This way I’m not fully committed to a second job, but I’m still making extra money that doesn’t take away from my current bills without worrying about cutting into the time I work on my business.

  3. your article was great and informative, nice job.IMm very familiar with uber being that Uber was founded here in the San Francisco Bay.
I was very informed and intrigued about about the way you referred to uber as a side hustle and you put a smile on my face with that one.

    1. Hey Deon,

It must be pretty cool to see Uber grow into the business it is now. But it truly is a great side hustle. Making some extra cash in order to fund a business is ideal when you can do it on your own schedule.

  4. Hi Diana,

Using Uber to pay for the ads seems like a good idea. Many times people do not think about the costs involved when it comes to starting an online business and part of those costs are ads. Thankfully, there are a lot of good side jobs that you can take, especially with the internet. One thing that I would like to stress about working with Uber is that you have to take into consideration your customer service. You should read the stories and think about how you would handle a customer that is drunk or belligerent. At the same time, doesn’t Uber have a bonus for signing up?

    1. Depending on when you sign up determines the bonus you’ll receive. But the key is to keep in mind that it’s nothing more than a means to an end.

  5. Diana,
Great post, appreciate you sharing. It’s amazing to me how big Uber has become. I read recently that almost 3 million people in the US drive for Uber. How wild is that?!
Your article is right on the money. If you are going to work on creating a website that will eventually create revenue, you have to have the means to put money into it in order to build the following. I have found Facebook ads and boosted posts to be greatly beneficial but it does cost to do this of course.
Recently I began working a 2 month contract side gig. One of the primary reasons for accepting it was in order to build up some cash reserves to help fund the growth of my website.
Do you have other thoughts on side hustles people can do to help fuel their dreams and other side hustles?
    Mat A.

    1. That’s a great side hustle Mat!

When it comes to funding an affiliate marketing business, getting creative is a huge asset. Some people will rent out a spare room in their home on AirBnB, you can sell your stuff on eBay or Letgo. Or you can always just get a second job.

The key is to use this extra income to grow your business… not to spend it on a new Apple Watch or 2 for 1 margaritas.
